Abstract
Extinctions stand out amid the global catalog of environmental insults. Extinctions are irreversible and their rate is high and accelerating. Preventing them, however, is neither impractical nor economically impossible. It does require innovative strategies. Implementation raises a number of controversial questions, which are addressed here.Keywords
