Excretion of drugs in human milk

Abstract
Information on the excretion of drugs in human milk is presented. The mechanisms by which drugs may pass from the circulation to the milk of lactating women are reviewed. Difficulties in interpreting published reports regarding this subject are discussed. A table summarizes studies which have been done to identify drugs excreted in human milk: quantities of drugs excreted in milk and the significance of the findings for nursing infants are also presented.
