OPTICAL NONLINEAR SUSCEPTIBILITIES OF LITHIUM IODATE

Abstract

The nonlinear coefficients of lithium iodate have been measured, relative to quartz, by the Maker fringe technique. $$d_{31}({\mathrm{LiIO}}_3{\text{) = 15.5 ± 0.8\hspace{0.17em}d}}_{11}({\mathrm{SiO}}_2{\mathrm{),\hspace{0.17em}\hspace{0.17em}d}}_{33}({\mathrm{LiIO}}_3{\text{) = 16.1 ± 1\hspace{0.17em}[d}}_{11}({\mathrm{SiO}}_2\mathrm{)]}$$ for the fundamental wavelength 1.064μ. It has also been determined that d₃₁ and d₃₃ have the same sign.
