Abstract
A method of investigating hydration of a solute (beginning with infinite dilution) with the use of vibrational spectra has been presented. The procedure has been applied to aqueous Ca(C104)2 solution spectra of OD(HDO) fundamental stretching vibration and combination vibrations of H2O (1100 – 1300 nm). The number of Ca(c104)2-affected water molecules has been determined; the obtained hydration spectra reveal anion-affected and cation-affected water bands. Keywords
