Iron-Deficiency Anemia Resulting from Fetomaternal Transfusion

Abstract
THE purpose of this report is to call attention to one of the complications of the recently recognized syndrome known as fetomaternal transfusion. A number of reports1 2 3 4 5 6 7 have described a clinical condition in the newborn infant characterized by severe anemia and shock that develops as a result of antepartum passage of fetal erythrocytes into the maternal circulation.
