Measurement of the Branching Ratio $\frac{(K_{L} \to 2 π^{0})}{(K_{L} \to 3 π^{0})}$

Abstract

We have measured the branching ratio

\frac{(K_{L} \to 2 π^{0})}{(K_{L} \to 3 π^{0})}

to be (4.6±1.1) ×

10^{- 3}

. Combined with a recently reported branching ratio

\frac{(K_{L} \to 3 π^{0})}{(K_{L} \to all modes)} = 0.209 \pm 0.011

, we find

\frac{(K_{L} \to 2 π^{0})}{(K_{L} \to all modes)} = (0.96 \pm 0.23) \times 10^{- 3}

and

| η_{00} | = (2.3 \pm 0.3) \times 10^{- 3}
