Normal Values of Swine Serum Proteins.

Abstract
Blood serum protein determinations from 79 hogs indicated a mean normal total protein value of 7.4 g/100 ml. The mean percentages of protein fractions were albumin, 46%; alpha globulin, 20%; beta globulin, 14.5%; and gamma globulin, 19.5%. Zone electrophoresis and biuret methods were used for quantitation. The normal albumin-globulin (A/G) ratio derived from electrophoretic data was 0.88. The results of this study indicate that ionic strength, pH of the buffer and separating medium influence the resolution of serum protein components.
