Abstract
The antishielding factor η for a possible nuclear electric hexadecapole moment has been calculated for the Cu+, Ag+ and Hg++ ions, using the Hartree-Fock wave functions for the 3d, 4d, and 5d electrons involved. It was found that η(Cu+)1200, η(Ag+)8050, and η(Hg++)63000. The implication of these results is discussed.
