Abstract
This paper presents a study of a hypothetical job shop by computer simulation. The purpose is to investigate the main and interaction effects of three shop decision variables: (a) the job dispatching rule, (b) the due-date assignment method, and (c) the shopload ratio, on a shop performance measure defined as the percentage of jobs late. The multiple regression analysis technique is employed to estimate the functional relationship between the performance measure and shop decision variables. Two potential applications of the regression model are explored and discussed. Keywords
