Abstract
Measurement of the pain threshold was applied to a series of 117 patients with pain sense disorders as the result of some injury to the nervous system. It would appear that the method has important diagnostic value as the pain sense disorder can be measured quantitatively. It is also possible in this way to follow the course of the disorder accurately and thus get an impression of the efficacy of treatment and of the prognosis. It also enables one to distinguish in equivocal cases between organic and psychogenic disturbances of sensitivity.
