Abstract
The (, ) and (, ) reactions have been studied on targets of , , and at incident and energies of 104 and 78 MeV, respectively. The two reactions are observed to populate states in the residual nuclei with different strengths, depending on the values of the final states. These results are believed to be a consequence of the selection rules for these reactions and suggest that spectroscopic assignments are possible with the use of heavy-ion reactions to complement other measurements.
