THE VOLUME OF BLOOD IN THE HEART AND LUNGS

Abstract
A method for measuring cardio-pulmonary blood volume is described. Alterations in blood CO2 and O and changes in ventilation have no effect unless accompanied by an increase in blood flow. Increased inflow into the right ventricle was the only means by which the pulmonary blood volume was augmented. Experiments indicate that the left lung has less vascular capacity than the right.
