Reorientation-Effect Measurements onCd114

Abstract
Using a 42-MeV O16 beam, the angular dependence of the excitation probability for exciting the first 2+ state in Cd114 has been determined. The energy dependence of the same quantity was determined by means of an α beam. From these data, the quadrupole moment Q2+ of the first 2+ state was determined, as well as the reduced transition probability B(E2, 02+). The two sets of data are consistent with each other and with particleγ-coincidence experiments of several other groups. A detailed account of the experimental techniques and the method of evaluation is given.
