Learning sets from minimum stimuli.

Abstract
Five naive rhesus monkeys were trained on a series of problems generated from all possible problems con-structable from only four stimuli. Training on each problem was continued until five successive correct responses were made. Analysis of the data showed that with increasing experience progressive improvement was made on all problems. A specification was made of the conditions leading to positive and to negative transfer. Subsequent testing on an additional series of object-quality discrimination and discrimination-reversal problems indicated highly efficient performance.
