The residual action of DDT against Anopheles gambiae and funestus

Abstract

A . gambae and A. funestus tend to leave lightly treated buildings, but a mortality of possibly 100% is obtained for periods of 5-6 months if the treatment with DDT reaches an original conc. of 200 mg./sq. ft. The presence of lime on the walls of buildings tends to shorten the lasting effects materially and should be taken into consideration when plans of treatment are being laid out.
