The Hagedorn-Jensen method applied to various sugars

Abstract
There were significant differences in the reducing power of several sugars with the Hagedorn-Jensen method. These differences were correlated with trans and cis configuration of the sugars. In aldo- and keto-hexoses the configuration between the 3rd and the 4th carbon atom is the determining factor; in aldopentoses the configurations of C2-C3 and C3-C4 share the influence.
