Lung Cancer Mortality in Males Screened by Chest X-ray and Cytologic Sputum Examination: A Preliminary Report

Abstract
Since 1969 a study of the methodology and effect of screening for lung cancer has been carried out at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions under the aegis and support of the National Cancer Institute. This study was expanded in 1972 into a controlled cooperative study with the participation of the Mayo Clinic Foundation and the Sloan-Kettering Center for Cancer Research.
