The Molecular Ratios of Soluble Rabbit Antigen-Antibody Complexes

Abstract
The use of both I131 labelled antigens and I131 labelled antibodies allowed calculations of the antigen-antibody ratios of the soluble complexes precipitated by complement in the different regions of antigen excess. The antigen-antibody molecular ratios of the “limiting” complexes, precipitated in extreme antigen excess, afforded a calculation of the valence of the antibody. A valence of approximately 2 was obtained for rabbit anti-BSA and anti-BGG. These values were supported by determinations made with soluble complexes precipitated with chicken anti-RGG.
