A colorimetric method for the standardization of heparin preparations

Abstract

Heparin formed with toluidine blue in aq. soln. a violet-red complex which could be removed from soln. by shaking with light petroleum. The quantity of dye removed from soln. was detd. colorimetrically, and was proportional to the quantity of heparin added. The method gave results in agreement with those obtained by a biological method.
