Abstract
Comparing the reactions of guinea pigs actively sensitized with ovalbumin and of those treated with anaphylatoxin (rat serum incubated with dextran), it was found that antihistaminics (Neo-Antergan) protect completely against the anaphyalctoid but only partially against anaphylactic shock. The anaphylactic animals did experience delayed shock with circulatory failure as the dominating symptom. Much less histamine is released into the ciruclation by anaphylactic than by anaphylactoid reaction. Factors other than histamine play a role in anaphylactic shocK.Keywords
