A Comparison Between the Information in Gated and Nongated Cardiac CT Images

Abstract
Retrospective electrocardiograph-gated cardiac computed tomography Kl'l scans have been obtained in 9 dogs in 14 different experimental situations. The corresponding multiple nongated CT images reconstructed from the same information were used for comparison. The areas and volumes of cardiac chambers determined from nongated cardiac CT images were 87 8% of the corresponding gated end-diastolic values. The methodological errors in the area determinations were estimated to be around 8%.
