Hepatic resection for metastasis from colorectal cancer

Abstract
Patients (25) who had hepatic metastases from carcinomas of the colon and rectum had resection for cure, with a determinate 5-yr survival rate of 40%, and 10-yr survival rate of 28%. Most of the hepatic metastatic lesions were solitary, small and peripheral, and were treated with simple wedge resection. These favorable results justify an aggressive approach to solitary metastatic liver lesions.
