Abstract
AMPICILLIN (alpha-aminobenzyl penicillin), a semisynthetic penicillin, has been reported to have high in vitro activity against certain gramnegative bacilli, including salmonella.1 2 3 4 5 The present studies were undertaken to determine the sensitivity of a large number of recently isolated strains of salmonella to ampicillin and to compare the activity of this antibiotic with that of penicillin G, chloramphenicol and tetracycline.
