Abstract
Studies on the alveolar pores of Kohn in the dog have shown that they do not increase in number after the first year of life and do not significantly increase in size during life. These studies indicated that the pores are developmental in origin and are not due to wear and tear or degenerative changes in the lung. Moreover, the pores do not appear to be related to the much larger fenestrations that occur in pulmonary emphysema. Keywords
