Abstract
46 Jersey cows were prepartum milked from 2 to 16 days. 9 of these cows had parturient paresis or milk fever. Prepartum milking did not significantly reduce the incidence of parturient paresis. It would seem that factors in addition to the initiation of milk are involved in causing parturient paresis. The incidence of parturient paresis is not seasonal in this herd. Keywords
