Abstract
Serum obtained on the day of admission and four days later failed to kill 3 × 103 Haemophilus influenzae, Type B, isolated from the cerebrospinal fluid of a 33-year-old woman with meningitis. Serum obtained on days 16, 30 and 60 was bactericidal for 3 × 106 organisms. No factors that might have contributed to the patient's illness other than the lack of bactericidal antibody against H. influenzae, Type B, were detected. Keywords
