Abstract

Bis(tetramethylammonium)hexasulfide has been synthesized from tetramethylammoniumchlorid and Na₂S₅ in aqueous solution. Single crystal X-ray investigations revealed its structure. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2/_c, with two formula units in the cell. The cell constants are as follows: a = 7.353(1) Å , b - 5.712(2) Å, c = 20.318(4) Å, β = 99.3(1)°
