Abstract
Lipophilic steroid conjugates were isolated from human adrenocortical tissue, plasma, and cerebrospinal fluid. From their composition of approximately 1 M steroid, 1 M sul-fate + phosphate, 1 M glycerol, and 2 M fatty-acids, by their chroma-tographic and spectral properties and a qualitatively and quantitatively uniform content of fatty acids, these lipophilic steroids were assigned the structure of steroid sulfatides and steroid phosphatides, respectively.
