To the Editor: In his review, "A Physiologic Approach to Shock" in the April 11 issue of the Journal, Dr. Jacobson refers to an editorial by me published in the Annals of Internal Medicine in June, 1967. A number of colleagues have pointed out to me that the reference misrepresents my stated point of view. Dr. Jacobson refers to this editorial when he criticizes the "ready acceptance of the central venous pressure as a highly informative diagnostic guide in shock." However, his ensuing discussion of the value and limitations of central venous pressure monitoring stresses the same points made . . .
