Abstract
A compact analytical solution of stresses around a pin-loaded hole in orthotropic plates is obtained by the complex stress functions which satisfy the displacement boundary conditions along the hole. In the solutions, two parameters n and k which characterize the orthotropy are involved. Frictional effects are included. The advan tage of these solutions is that the stress distribution along the hole can be easily com puted for different orthotropic materials as long as the basic elastic constants are known. The numerical results are compared with those available in the literature. Keywords
