Abstract
The recently proposed ICRP Lung Model can be used to calculate the burden and dose to the respiratory tract from the inhalation of a known radioactive aerosol. Snyder has given analytical expressions and curves to compute such quantities for a single intake. This paper gives expressions and curves for the case of continuous intake. The use of these curves is illustrated by an example in which burdens and doses to various compartments of the respiratory tract are computed for the chronic inhalation of plutonium oxide aerosol making use of the aerosol data available from Hanford Laboratories.
