Analysis of moss dehydrogenases by polyacrylamide disc electrophoresis

Abstract
Polyacrylamide disc electrophoresis has been used to separate multiple forms of formic, glutamic, lactic, and malic dehydrogenases from 20 moss species. The enzymes were detected using a tetrazolium procedure. The analyses are the first reports of these enzymes from the Bryophyta. The value of disc electrophoresis for physiological, ecological, and taxonomic studies of mosses is discussed.
