Abstract
ALTHOUGH osteomyelitis often falls into the purview of the orthopedic surgeon, the internist and pediatrician are also very frequently involved in the initial diagnosis and the subsequent antibiotic management of patients with bone infections. The wide spectrum of manifestations of disease related to the site of involvement, the infecting organism, the initiating event and the acute or chronic course of the illness provides many questions not yet fully answered. Has the frequency of the disease continued to change two decades after the introduction of antimicrobial agents? Is the bacteriology of osteomyelitis the same as in the preantibiotic era, or does . . .Keywords
