Study ofππElastic Scattering Using the Chew-Low Extrapolation Method

Abstract
The cross sections for and elastic scattering, and the -wave and -wave phase shifts, and , are calculated for MeV using a Chew-Low extrapolation. The extrapolation information permits resolving a fourfold ambiguity which has been present in other attempts to determine from the reaction . The result for is consistent with a curve which increases through 90° around . The width obtained from the extrapolated -wave amplitude is 105 ± 15 MeV.
