Abstract
Methods available for the collection and estimation of sebum have been studied in order to assess their reliability. The cup method of collection was satisfactory when CC14 is used as solvent. Direct weighing of the sebum sample is recommended, but reliable results can be obtained with either the nephelometric or the chromate-oxidation method provided that the method has previously been calibrated by means of samples of sebum. Keywords
