Abstract
Although only about 40 kilometers apart, the Jurassic-lower Cretaceous deposits of the Querola section in the northern Alcoy area differ considerably from those of the Sierra de Foncalent section in Alicante, Spain. The details of the sections are reported. The Alcoy section may belong to the Prebetic zone; the Alicante section may belong to the Subbetic or to a paleogeographic unit intermediate between the two structural zones.
