Abstract
The first case of fibromuscular hyperplasia of the internal carotid system causing cerebral thrombosis is presented. Surgical treatment consisted of resection and grafting with an autogenous graft from the spahenous vein. Reasons for prophylactic treatment are discussed. The literature was reviewed and failed to reveal any similar case or pathology in the carotid artery. Keywords
