Estimation of Volume of a Circulatory Model by the Hamilton and the Bradley Methods at Varying Flow Volume Ratios

Abstract
The accuracy of the Hamilton mean circulation time method and of the Bradley equilibration method for the measurement of the volume contained within a segment of the vascular bed were evaluated in an artificial circulatory model. The Hamilton method provided accurate volume measurements over the entire range of minute flow to volume ratios examined, i.e. from .37/1.0 to 7.75/1.0. However, accurate measurements with the Bradley method were possible only with minute flow to volume ratios below 4.0/1.0. Submitted on May 6, 1957
