Abstract
This paper is concerned with the construction of the observer for estimating linear functions of the state of a linear system. The necessary and sufficient condition for constructing the observer is derived in a geometrical way and its design method is presented. The relation between the proposed method and Gopinath's procedure for the state observer is made explicit from the points of minimal realization or the aggregation.Keywords
