Article abstract Visual difficulty developed in a 54-year-old woman treated for 10 years with chloroquine for rheumatoid arthritis, and a bitemporal field defect was discovered. Skull x-rays, pneumoencephalography, and carotid angiography were normal. A chiasmal (exploration finally was done, but results were negative. Although bitemporal hemianopia usually implies a tumor in the region of the sellaturcica, the nonsurgical causes of this field defect have to be consitsred.
