Abstract
Dimuon distributions from the production of heavy particles in ν- and ν¯-induced reactions are obtained within the framework of the quark-parton model. General qualitative features independent of the model are pointed out. Available data are consistent with the production of at least one particle, of mass 1.8 GeV/c2, in ν-induced reactions, with ordinary (VA) currents, and perhaps one more heavier particle, of mass around 3.5 GeV/c2 to 4.5 GeV/c2, with (V+A) currents, in ν¯-induced reactions. Methods for determining production probability functions from dimuon distributions are pointed out.
