Identification of the Species of Origin of Cells by Mixed Hemadsorption: A Mixed Antiglobulin Reaction Applied to Monolayer Cell Cultures

Abstract

The use of mixed hemadsorption for testing species identity is outlined. The test, which is essentially a mixed anti-globulin reaction, is performed directly on cell sheets in monolayer cultures. The sensitivity is high if it is assumed that the foreign cells appear in the form of colonies. The combination of the method with a disc test in pure cell cultures permits a satisfactory quantitation of titers of anti-cellular sera. Some advantages of the method are discussed.
