Abstract
Vagotomy has been employed in patients suffering from mild to moderate chronic, non-specific, ulcerative colitis. In 4 cases this was the sole organic therapy; in 3 of these, subsequent tests showed the division to be complete. These 3 patients have been entirely relieved of symptoms, and in each the proctoscopic examination has shown apparently complete healing. One of these still has some pus in the stool, the others none.
