Using guinea pigs, dogs and human patients it was found that urinary thyrotropic activity could not be demonstrated in normal man or normal animals, and only rarely in human hyperthyroidism. Transient urinary thyrotropic activity regularly followed thyroidectomy in animals and in man, but could only rarely be demonstrated in spontaneous hypothyroidism.
