Abstract
The expressions for the Coulomb scattering amplitudes and up to terms () for arbitrary are given. These expressions are used to evaluate the cross section and the asymmetry function at small angles. The behavior of and as well as and near is also discussed. The approximation is then extended to a screened potential by introducing a cutoff parameter in the partial-wave series. The scattering amplitudes and and are compared with the corresponding Coulomb case.
