Search forT=32States inLi5,He5, andH5

Abstract
Three experiments to search for T=32 mass-5 analog states have been performed. Both triton energy spectra from the Li7(p,t)Li5 reaction and particle-particle coincidence data on the Li7(p,t)Li5 and Li7(p,He3)He5 reactions failed to reveal well-defined Li5 or He5 states having expected T=32 properties. Tentative evidence is found from these measurements for broad T=12 states at 22-, 25-, and 34-MeV excitation energy. B8 energy spectra from the Be9(α,B8)H5 reaction also exhibited no peaks which might be associated with sharp states of H5. These results are qualitatively in agreement with several theoretical predictions that H5 is unbound to particle emission by at least several MeV.
