Quantum phase transitions in photonic cavities with two-level systems

Abstract
Systems of small numbers (up to six) of photonic cavities containing a single two-level system each are studied using exact diagonalization techniques. Quantum phase space diagrams are produced for these systems, and are compared to the mean-field approximation. The relevance and necessity of chemical potential is discussed using arguments from statistical mechanics. Chemical potential is then extended to include finite temperature, and this is compared to the notion of disorder in the exact system.
