Abstract
The level of the circulating eosinophils in schizophrenic and neurotic patients was used as a measure of adrenocortical response and was comparatively constant on non-treatment days. After E.C.T. on 49 occasions, 31 showed a fall of the eosinophils greater than 50%, 12 no change, and 6 a rise. In a group of 27 patients the eosinophil count fell to 50% or less after every 1 of 61 coma inductions with insulin. Evidence suggests that repeated comas stimulate eosinophil production. Keywords
