Hyperfine structure in the arc spectrum of xenon. II

Abstract
Since an earlier publication (Jackson & Coulombe 1972) concerning hyperfine structure in the arc spectrum of xenon many new measurements of these structures have been made in connexion with observations of isotope shifts; measurements have also been made of the hyperfine structures of a number of lines not previously investigated. Tables are given of the revised values and of the new values of the hyperfine structures and of the hyperfine structure constants $A$ of the levels of $^{129}$Xe and $A$ and $B$ of the levels of $^{131}$Xe. The good agreement of the experimental values of the $A$ constants for the levels of $^{129}$Xe and $^{131}$Xe with the values calculated by Liberman (1969, 1971) is not altered by the revised experimental values, while it is improved for the $B$ constants of $^{131}$Xe. The average of the ratios of the $A$ constants of five levels of $^{129}$Xe and $^{131}$Xe given by the revised and the new values is -3.376 $\pm $ 0.02, differing by 0.002 from the previously published value and by -0.001 from the ratio found from nuclear resonance measurements (Faust & McDermott 1961).
