Evidence of Gonodotropic Effect of Farnesol in the Twospotted Spider Mite, Tetranychus urticae1 , 2

Abstract

Twospotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, females treated topically with 200 ppm farnesol in 40% ethanol laid more eggs than females treated with only 40% ethanol. It is conceivable that the increase in the number of eggs laid by the farnesoltreated females is due to the gonadotropic effects of farnesol.
